Samsung has teamed up with Mozilla to build a brand new mobile browser to work on the Android platform. Mozilla has long been known for their non-profit browser, Firefox which has also been released to the Android market.
The new browser will be named Servo named by both Samsung and Mozilla and aims to take advantage of new multi-core devices. Servo will be programmed in Mozilla’s own programming language named Rust which was first released in 2010, although was in development since 2006.
Servo itself is just a prototype at the moment which creates a parallel environment for rendering the webpage. There is no announcement yet for when Servo will be released for programmers or the general public.
