Samsung has announced new range of SD and microSD cards in its PRO, EVO and Standard lineup with a diverse range of capacities from 4GB to 64GB.
The new lineup is designed specifically with the 5-proof technology to ensure maximum reliability of data stored. The flash cards are available in the global markets. However, the company is yet to disclose the pricing information.
“Samsung plans to take the lead in the growth of high-density memory cards by strengthening our product competitiveness through improved performance, product quality, broad capacity options and sophisticated design,” said Unsoo Kim, senior vice president of brand product marketing team at Samsung Electronics.
“In the future, we will create next-generation memory cards that have even faster speeds and higher memory storage volume that will enhance consumer satisfaction level and solidify Samsung’s branded memory business leadership.”
The PRO models (silver colour) have a UHS first-grade performance (Ultra High Speed Grade 1), with maximum reading-and-writing speed estimated at 90MB per second.
EVO models, the next level (orange colour) are also UHS-I Grade 1, Class 10 cards with a data transfer rates of up to 48MB per second.
Standard flash cards (blue colour) are designed specifically for HD video recording and are perfect for the entry-level mobile phone or digital camera.
The reliable 5-Proof technology is used in designing the cards to increase their resistance towards – water, temperature, magnet, shock and X-ray.
The new lineups can survive up to 24 hours in seawater and can withstand operating temperatures of 13°F to 185°F (25°C to 85°C) and non-operating temperatures from 40°F to 185°F (-40°C to 85°C).
The memory cards can resist up to 15,000 gauss magnetic force and the data will not be affected by X-rays. In addition, the new flash cards can sustain the force of a 1.9 ton vehicle.
