The successor to Samsung’s most recent flagship offering Galaxy S5 dubbed ‘the Galaxy S5 Plus’ has popped up on the smartphone maker’s website in the Netherlands.
The Galaxy S5 Plus is more or less identical to its predecessor except for the fact that the former is equipped with a Snapdragon 805 chipset, claimed as to be Qualcomm’s fastest and most efficient chipset to date, replacing the Snapdragon 801 chipset in the original S5 that included a 2.5GHz quad-core processor.
The new processor is also clocked at 2.5GHz but it’s a new core – Krait 450. Inclusion of the powerful Snapdragon 805 chipset makes the Galaxy S5 Plus currently the fastest android phone in the market.
The Snapdragon 805 chipset supports advanced LTE Cat. 6. offering speeds of up to 300Mbps, that’s around two times the speed of the standard Galaxy S5. The chipset also offers increased memory bandwidth, nearly 70 percent more.
The Galaxy S5 Plus features a 5.1-inch full-HD (1,080 x 1,920), 2GB of RAM, 16GB inbuilt storage, further expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB), a 16-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front camera, and 2800mAh battery. It runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box with the company’s skin on top.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus sports same features as the 2014 flagship, including fingerprint and heart rate sensors; NFC; USB 3.0 and an IR sensor blaster. The device is water and dust resistant with IP67 certification available in Charcoal Black, Shimmery White, Electric Blue and Copper Gold color options.
There’s no word yet on the smartphone’s UK launch.
