Samsung Galaxy S5 isn’t going to stay under wraps for long and is likely to be unveiled some time in either March or April and in the meantime analysts and rumour mongers are busy speculating the specifications of the Korean company’s next flagship smartphone.
Latest in the series of these speculations is a report from KGI research that claims that Samsung will be launching two different Galaxy S5s – one for Korea and other for the rest of the world. One variant is expected to have an octa-core Exynos processor from Samsung and the other will be powered by Snapdragon MSM8974AC processor.
The smartphone variants are likely to be named Galaxy S5 Prime and Galaxy S5 Standard. Apart from the difference in the processor, rest of the specifications will be the same between the two variants. 5.2-inch AMOLED display with 2,560 x 1,440p resolution, 3GB RAM, and 16-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel sub camera (front facing). KGI Research claims that Samsung will go with a plastic casing rather than metal casing for its Galaxy S5, which may be a let-down for many.
Rather than iris recognition system, Samsung is opting for a fingerprint based biometric authentication system claims the research company and the handset will also support 3D gestures.
