LG’s G Flex – Samsung Galaxy Round competitor – has been found flaunting its curvy body in a set of three leaked images – seemingly press renders
LG has already confirmed that the 6-inch smartphone will be equipped with an OLED panel that is just 0.44mm thin and weighs 7.2g. LG also revealed earlier that the display panel will be made out of plastic substrates and not glass giving the panel more flexibility while being unbreakable.
According to earlier reports, LG is all set for a November unveil of the G Flex and it has also readied itself for mass production capabilities of flexible display panels. LG has however not detailed any information about the pricing and availability of the G Flex; however, press render leaks do point to a more or less confirmed November launch.
If you compare the leaked press renders, first posted by Engadget, G Flex curve with that of the Samsung Galaxy Round, you will find that LG has opted for a different way of curving its smartphone as compared to Samsung. LG has gone ahead with a curve that spans top to bottom in G Flex as compared to Samsung’s Galaxy Round wherein the curve is sideways.
Samsung has released Galaxy Round in South Korea only with a price tag of $1,063 and it seems that Samsung is still gauging consumer appetite for curved displays with a one-country launch. It remains to be seen whether LG will do to the same or it will opt for a global launch.
