Jolla, the Finnish smartphone maker, is all set to debut its ‘Sailfish OS’ powered smartphone in India through local retailer Snapdeal.com starting September 23.
The company has sent out invitation to the media for a September 23 press event which reads, “Join the unlikely on September 23, 2014.” Jolla’s invite confirms launch of Jolla smartphones exclusively via Snapdeal.
Earlier this year in July Jolla teased the launch of the device in India with a tag line “Jolla sails to India”. The site then offered Indian customers to sign – up, so that when the smartphone arrives in India Company can send out notification to the registered users.
Jolla launched Sailfish OS based smartphone last year in November and is currently available in Finland and Europe for EUR 399 (approx. INR 34,000).
For those unaware, Jolla smartphone comes with a 4.5-inch qHD IPS display with resolution of 540×960 pixels. It is powered by 1.4GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor coupled with 1GB of RAM.
The handset features 8-megapixel AF rear camera with LED flash, 2.0-megapixel front-facing camera, 16GB of inbuilt storage, microSD card slot and a 2100mAh battery which according to the company listing gives 9 hours of talk time and 10 hours of stand-by time on 3G network.
Connectivity options in the device include 4G LTE, 3G, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, USB2.0, AGPS & GLONASS.
