Raspberry Pi Foundation is expected to announce the release of a low-cost, compact Raspberry Pi Model A+ as early as this week after a product listing [now deleted] showed up on Element14’s site.
Spotted by CNX-Software, the Raspberry Pi Model A+ features a compact design and just 1 USB port instead of 4, but packs the same microSD card reader and 40-pin GPI connector as the Model B+. The A+ doesn’t pack an Ethernet jack.
Element14 gave away information about the processor and RAM as well, which according to the product listing are Broadcomm BCM2385 ARM11 processor and 256MB respectively.
One improvement that has been noted is increase in efficiency of power management to support “power hungry” USB devices.
Raspberry Pi Model A+ is expected to go on sale as early as this week and should cost somewhere around $20.
