Advancement in technology has no limits. The history of innovations and inventions in the computer field and related items have also touched the heights of refinement. Raspberry Pi is a small card-size computer that can easily be plugged into a computer monitor and television. Ordinary mouse and keyboards can work using this incredible British invention. Here is a short history of the Raspberry Pi computer below:

As mentioned earlier, it is a card-size and economical computer attached to a relatively big screen. It is such a computer that people of all ages can use it. Through this device, one can browse the internet, play games, watch videos, and use Microsoft Office. Moreover, this can be used in digital marketing and music-related machine. It is helpful for children in making them able to know the working principle of the computer.

The main aim of spreading computer knowledge in Britain lies in the 1980s. In 1981 computers were introduced for the purpose mentioned earlier. The principal agency behind this goal was the British government.

A Brief History

In 2006, Eben Upton, an engineer, was the person who introduced Raspberry Pi prototypes. It took him six years to develop a single-board computer. He took the idea of making a small single board computer from his school time, where he had used the BBC microcomputer. He decided to make his own. This was the first step that replaced the idea of big computers in classrooms in England. In association with Broadcom, all these Pi computers were developed by the raspberry foundation, which Upton established.

In 2012, the market production of micro-computer started. This invention was a significant step in making school children’s access to the computer easy as the cost was low and portable. After this came into the market, many different such types of models were evident, but all were short-lived, and innovation in this category of computers began. These Pi computers are made in countries like England, China and Japan.

The History of various generations as well as series of raspberry Pi computers

The Raspberry Pi

Raspberry Pi foundation released the B model in February 2012. However, it was a bit costly. The foundation released a cheaper version, A, in the same year. The B+ model was released by the foundation in 2014. Similarly, the Raspberry Pi 2 with a processor of 1 Giga Bytes was released in 2015. The Pi 3 model B with USB boot and Bluetooth capabilities came to market in February 2015, followed by Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ in 2018. The story did not end here, as in 2019 and 2020, the Pi 4 model B and Pi 400 developed, respectively.

The Pi Zero

The Pi Zero having small size surfaced on the market in 2015, followed by Pi Zero v1.3(2016), Pi Zero W (2017), Pi Zero WH (2018) and Pi Zero 2 W (2021)

The Pico

The Pico version of Raspberry Pi, priced at $4, was developed in the first quarter of 2021. This was the first microcomputer to have a microcontroller chip. It has a flash memory of 2MB while it is 264 KB. The latest Pi Pico W was launched in June 2022.

Conclusion

To conclude, the ever developing technology has brought us to a time when Raspberry Pi, a credit card sized microcomputer was invented by Eben Upton in 2006. This small computer can do wonders ranging from playing videogames to browsing internet. It can possibly all the things that a modern computer is equipped to do. Due to its constant growth and innovation, Raspberry Pi has now many different types such as Pi Zero and Pico.
