One of the extremely rare Nintendo game cartridges, which recently landed on eBay was worthy enough of fetching a whopping $99,902. The starting auction price of the cartridge was set at $4,999.99.
This cartridge is one of 116 cartridges manufactured for the 1990 Nintendo video game competition. Only 90 out of 116 were given out to the finalists.
Twenty-five years later this Nintendo World Championships 1990 game cartridge is the most valuable and one of Nintendo’s its rarest cartridges. A gold version of the cartridge, which is even rarer than the grey one was sold for $18,000 in 2010.
The cartridge’s auction page read “A must for Nintendo collectors, which I can attest to since I’ve been one for over 25 years. Those that walk in NES circles will relate my name with honesty and integrity but feel free to ask for references if you doubt my authenticity. These carts are near impossible to find anywhere so don’t let this pass you by.”
The cartridge is in an “acceptable” condition claimed the seller Muresan. The unique number on the cartridge is missing – thanks to the label which has been ripped.
“This is your chance to own the Super RARE Nintendo World Championship Cart for the NES!!!!”
The seller claimed that the cartridge is authentic and not a reproduction.
“These carts are near impossible to find anywhere so don’t let this pass you by!”, wrote Museran in the item’s description page on eBay adding that all the games in the cartridge are in complete working order.
Muresan, who bought the game from another trader sometime in 2004 or 2005, is yet to disclose the amount he actually paid for getting the cartridge.
