PlayStation 4 will probably outsell Wii U in terms of global sales by spring this year believes Michael Pachter, analyst known for his gaming-related sales trends and predictions.
While speaking with GamerFitNation, Pachter said, “I am pretty sure the Wii U will still be ahead in March, but PS4 is going to pass it in 2014 at some point. PS4 will only be at 5-5.5 million by March, Wii U should be a hair ahead of that. Probably April or May.”
If we go by the data on VGChartz, Wii U has sold 5 million units as compared to PlayStation 4’s 3.4 million units.
However, as Wii U was out a full year before PlayStation 4 and considering the difference of one year, the hardware specifications is definitely one of the constraints that will hamper sales of Wii U considering better gaming consoles are already out – PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
With impending Japan launch, PlayStation 4 will definitely get a huge sales boost and chances are it may reach the Wii U sales levels earlier than predicted.
