Sony has rolled out a special limited edition PlayStation 4 console to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its PlayStation gaming console on December 3.
The light-grey colored limited edition console echoes the color of the original PlayStation, now known as the PS1, released on Dec. 3, 1994 in Japan.
The special birthday version of the PS4 will be available worldwide in a limited edition of 12,300, costing £399 in the UK, $499 in the US and 49,800 yen in Japan.
The limited edition PS4 will come running an x86 processor, enhanced PC GPU, 8GB of high-speed unified memory, a 500GB storage drive, together with 2 x USB 3.0 ports, and 1 x AUX port, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, and HDMI port.
The anniversary special bundle will also include a PlayStation Camera supporting a maximum resolution of 1280 x 800 together with (x2) pixel capture at 60fps, vertical stand and 20th Anniversary-themed DualShock 4 that features the original PlayStation logo on the PlayStation button and exclusive details on the touchpad. The package will come in a special white retro box, and will be available for sale starting next week.
Furthermore, Sony has also released a free PS4 theme featuring the original PSOne startup sound to mark the occasion. The theme features new startup sound, a light grey background, new icons and floating PlayStation symbols. The theme is currently available on PS4, PS3 and PS Vita.
