Sony is doing all it can to promote PlayStation 4 exclusive inFamous: Second Son – the company’s first in a series of big launched planned for 2014 – and it seems that the efforts are paying off as the company has revealed that pre-orders of the game have outstripped those of The Last of US in 2013.
While speaking with MCV UK, SCE UK product manager Josh Walker said, “We have high expectations for Infamous: Second Son and are excited by the level of pre-orders which are exceeding that of The Last of Us at this point in the run up to its launch.”
We will take Sony’s word on this, but it does mean that the sales numbers would be staggering considering that The Last of Us sold more than 3.4 million copies within a month.
We agree that not all 3.4 million units would have been pre-orders, but even a 10 percent pre-orders means that the TLoU would have sold over 340,000 units in pre-orders and surpassing that figure means that almost half of all PS4 owners in the UK would have ordered Second Son. Staggering isn’t?
What’s your take on that?
