PopCap has released Plants vs. Zombies 2 for Android globally after a limited launch in Australia and New Zealand.
The Android version isn’t all that different from its iOS counterpart which managed to rake in 25 million downloads within days of launch. The only visible difference is the use of Google Play Game Services rather than Apple’s Game Center to track achievements and leaderboards. The game is free to play and users are just required to pay only if they want to speed up their winning run.
PopCap did post a teaser yesterday on its Facebook page that read “Something big is coming tomorrow… #PvZ2 #ZombieinNY”, but didn’t reveal any specifics as to what this ‘something big’ was. Now it is clear that it was the Android version of Plants vs. Zombies 2.
