Google has rolled out new “place an order” feature which will let users order fast food directly from their search results.
Google has partnered with six startup companies that specialize in food ordering businesses in the US inclduing Seamless, Grubhub, Eat24, Delivery.com, BeyondMenu and MyPizza.com.
In order to place an order, users can search for a restaurant that delivers through the above six services on their phone and then Google will provide them with an option to “place an order.” On tapping the option, users will be routed to the food delivery website to complete the process and place their order.
“Whether you’re craving deep dish pizza or pad thai, starting today you can order food from some of your favorite restaurants directly from Google search results,” Google announced in its Google+ blog post.
“When you search for a nearby restaurant on your phone, you’ll see an option to “Place an order” in the search results.
“Just tap that, choose the delivery service and you’ll be taken to their website to complete the order.”
“Initially, you’ll be able to order via six providers in the US — Seamless, Grubhub, Eat24, Delivery.com, BeyondMenu and MyPizza.com — but we’ll be looking to add more in the future.”
The new feature is currently US only. There’s no word on whether Google plans to bring the service to the UK.
