There is bad news for customers who have ordered iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus from Phones 4U. Not only will they not get the phones but also the upfront money they have paid will not be refunded, say the administrators PricewaterhouseCoopers.
The administrators have informed that customers are not high on their priority, meaning that they are down the ladder as unsecured creditors.
Those who paid money upfront by credit cards can however hope to retrieve if the money has not already been transferred to the defunct company. The administrator has advised customers by email to ask their respective card companies to reverse their payment.
A statement on their website reads, “If you are unable to obtain a refund through your credit card company and wish to register a claim, your claim (to the extent you have one) will rank as an unsecured claim in the Administration.”
It is noteworthy that Phones 4U had earlier issued a statement saying that all those who had pre-ordered iPhone 6 and Plus will be refunded. It is not yet clear how many of the phones were pre-ordered and the total money involved. Cash-back offers and free gifts promised are also likely to end the same way, say some.
Phones 4U has been doing well recently, but trouble began after Vodafone and EE broke from it.
