Pebble is all set to launch a new product next week on Tuesday, February 24 – at least that’s what the countdown timer and a pixel-art style Pebble watch with a smiley face on Pebble’s official site indicates.
The timer runs out on February 24 at 10:am EST suggesting that the company will announce something at that time. Although the company hasn’t revealed anything on what it will be unveiling, it is expected that the device will be a new smartwatch that will follow the original Pebble and Pebble Steel.
If rumors are to be believed, the upcoming Pebble smartwatch will feature a slightly wider, e-paper-like display in color with an improved backlight. It will come packed in an overall thinner design but will not be touch-enabled like the Apple Watch.
The new watch is expected to maintain similar battery life of up to a week as its predecessors Pebble and Pebble Steel. The new smartwatch is rumored to feature a brand new OS, a microphone, a new Cortex M4 processor and a 6-axis gyroscope. The charging pins could be moved from the side to the bottom of the device and the chassis could be plastic with aluminum sides.
The report claims that pricing of the new device could be similar to the Pebble Steel which was launched originally for $250 but currently carries a $200 price tag.
