Pebble smartwatches – Pebble and Pebble Steel, are finally sailing across the ocean to the UK and will be available in store as well as online through Dixons, O2 and Firebox and Amazon.
Both the smartwatches – the original Pebble and the stylish the Pebble Steel, will be entering the UK shores with prices tag of £99 and £179, respectively. From all the aforementioned retailers, O2 will exclusively stock up Cherry Red Pebble.
Pebble has also announced a price cut for the smartwatches in the US, with the costs dropping to $99 and $199 for the Pebble and the Steel, respectively.
On the software front, the Pebble comes with an update that mainly focuses on fitness and health tracking aspects of the smartwatch besides some bug fixes. With the update, the device will be a full-fledged fitness tracker which can be used effectively when paired with a device running iOS 8 as it comes with health tracking functionality.
The Pebble update also brings with it a Quick Launch bar and a battery icon. The update is expected to be rolled out in the next 2 days. The previous update brought the DOMO watchface, emoji, iOS 8 integration, a compass, etc.
Alongside the Pebble update, the Misfit app built for Pebble has also received an update that can track activity and monitor sleep continuously. Pebble’s multi-day battery life complements the app’s features letting users have a full-fledged fitness monitor.
In addition to Misfit, Jawbone is also launching an activity tracker watchface dubbed Up besides Swim.com launching an app to monitor and measure distance, pace, strokes, times and efficiency of swimming if users wear the watch while swimming. Users can let the watch track their activity while having the desired watchface on the display.
