Pebble, the popular smartwatch company, is all set to launch its appstore this Monday.
Back in December last year, Pebble announced that it will be opening a marketplace that would serve as a one-stop shop for new watch faces and apps. Pebble’s Product Evangelist Myriam Joire has revealed in her tweet that the official appstore of Pebble will go live on Monday at 10 AM PST.
The company seems to have had pretty big time recently with its updates and launches like – the addition of iOS 7 Notification Center support to the smartwatch; the update of Do Not Disturb mode; the launch of the next smartwatch range Pebble Steel, with a stainless steel band and charging indicator; and the appstore to be rolled out in a couple of days.
Pebble, in a report from December 2013, stated that the appstore will be updated into its official Android and iOS apps and the appstore will include six different categories – Daily, Sports & Fitness, Remotes, Notifications, Tools & Utilities and Games.
Pebble smartwatch has an eight app limit that is intentionally employed to keep the menu structure from getting crowded. With this appstore, Pebble also introduces a new system that allows apps to be stored in a separate file allowing the users to quickly load and offload apps, swap any app with one of the eight apps in the time piece, and save favorite apps for future use.
Myriam Joire said that the Appstore, however, will be launched first for iOS while the Android version will be available very soon and will be accessible by both the versions of Pebble smartwatch – the original version and the newly introduced Pebble Steel.
