Pangu development team released the mac version of their jailbreak for iOS 8.0 and iOS 8.1, which up until now was only available on Windows.
The Mac Pangu jailbreak for iOS 8.0 and iOS 8.1 was released on Sunday and the untethered jailbreaking tool can jailbreak all your iDevices including iPod Touch, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5/5C/5S, iPhone 6/6S, iPad Mini 2/3 and iPad/iPad Air/Air 2.
Once you jailbreak your iDevice you will be able to install content including themes, tweaks, and apps from sources other than the official Apple App Store.
Cydia administrator Jay Freeman also gave his stamp of approval to the Pangu jailbreak tool noting that it is “stable enough”. He further said that developers on Cydia will now be able to mark their own apps as iOS 8 compatible.
Those applying the Pangu jailbreak for iOS 8.0 and iOS 8.1 should keep in mind a few things. First and foremost, you need to backup your iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches before using the tool. Also, you will be stuck to the iOS version on which they have applied the jailbreak – meaning that you can’t upgrade to a newer version of iOS or you will lose your jailbreak.
One important thing to note here is that Apple released iOS 8.1.1 beta to developers and Pangu team has already confirmed that at least one of the exploits they used in their jailbreak tool has been patched by Apple. This means that users who intend to have a jailbroken device should not upgrade to iOS 8.1.1 and they should jailbreak their device before Apple releases iOS 8.1.1 generally.
