Ouya has launched a new 16GB Black version of its Android-powered microconsole for $129.99 available starting today on Ouya.tv, Amazon and Amazon.ca.
Ouya launched a limited and temporary 16GB version of its microconsole in White during the holiday season; however, the latest matte finish Black console is here to stay. The original 8GB version of the console is still being sold for the original $99.
Powered by the nVIDIA Tegra 3 – T33 Quad-Core Processor and 1GB RAM, the new 16GB Black console supposedly has improved controller with ‘better’ joysticks and buttons. Ouya has also claimed that the controller has overall less lag compared to its predecessors and that the console packs improved Wi-Fi. The specifics around all these improvements are sparse as Ouya hasn’t detailed specifically what has improved.
The new console is preloaded with latest Ouya firmware which is said to have been fine tuned for greater performance.
What started as a Kickstarter campaign with $8.5 million in crowdsourced funding has taken shape of a professional console with sizable customer base. The company has managed to raise a whopping $23.6 million in funding till date, but hasn’t revealed any sales data till now.
