Having found that the invite-only system has kindled controversies, smartphone maker OnePlus has decided to abandon the old invite-only system to market its phones by designing a pre-order system which is expected to launch some time in October.
OnePlus adopted some marketing campaigns in the past which apparently upset several individuals who wanted to buy the device as they could not get themselves invited.
To ease things up for such people, OnePlus is about to launch a pre-order system through which they can place their order instead of having to take part in contests and get themselves invited for an opportunity to buy the smartphone.
A OnePlus representative said during an Ask Me Anything Reddit session that the system is in the works and will be all set for launching in October. The company also said that it would have been introduced in September, had it not been for the unexpected technical issues it faced while building the system.
The phone runs a customized CyanogenMod version of Android. This and the limited availability have created much hype around it. The company even announced that users who reply to some of its posts on the forum would receive a hundred invites.
OnePlus One will also include the Voice Wake-Up feature as part of the Qualcomm’s technology that will be incorporated in the device in the near future, said the company.
Further down the road is OnePlus Two, according to rumour mills. It is said that the successor will sport a Snapdragon 805 SoC processor.
