OnePlus has announced its decision of replacing Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 in its upcoming One smartphone with a Snapdragon 801 for faster processor. The device will also feature 3GB RAM to complement the processor.
“We wanted to bring the real-world performance enhancements gained from the many improvements the Snapdragon 801 offers over the 800”, announced OnePlus in a forum post.
The OnePlus One will have a Snapdragon 801 clocked at 2.5GHz, with a GPU clocked at 578MHz ensuring that users will have to spend less time waiting for games and apps to load.
“The newer eMMC 5.0 standard will help to greatly improve the interface speed, reducing the amount of time needed to copy, move, open, modify, and save almost everything that you’ll have on your phone”, OnePlus added.
OnePlus acknowledged that there have been plenty of speculations as far as the RAM of the One is concerned and confirmed that the smartphone will packs a whopping 3GB RAM.
The combination of Snapdragon 801 and 3GB RAM will make OnePlus One the fastest smartphone out there. The company also confirmed CyanogenMod as the operating system of the yet to be released smartphone.
