O2 on Tuesday announced that its Refresh price plan system now offers select high-end tablets for the first time, along with the smartphones.
The tablets making its way to the O2 Refresh range are recently-launched Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet, Nexus 7, Dell Venue Pro, Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0, Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 and Huawei MediaPad M1 8.0.
“Only with O2 can you change your tech whenever you like without having to pay the penalty on your airtime,” said Nina Bibby, Marketing and Consumer Director at O2.
“Encouraging feedback from our customers has led us to launch it on tablets this week so more people can benefit from payments spread overtime or paying off early without penalty.”
Previously, O2 Refresh included a wide range of smartphones, allowing users to pick up a device on a monthly contract, with the SIM plan as a separate payment. The cost of the smartphone will be split over the 24-month contract to avoid an up-front fee. The Refresh plan also gives users an opportunity to upgrade their smartphone at any time during the contract by paying off the remaining balance.
For instance, the Xperia Z2 Tablet will cost £529.99 upfront at O2, while picking up the tablet with 3GB of monthly data through the O2 Refresh, users will have to pay only a total of £36 a month – £21 a month for the device, and £15 per month for data.
Along with the introduction of tablets, O2 has added a number of data plans for users available from 500MB to 8GB monthly capacity limits. On O2’s Refresh tariff, users can opt for 500MB, 1GB, 3GB, 5GB or 8GB of data, priced at £8, £10, £15, £18 and £25 per month, respectively.
