Nokia unveiled its 41-megapixel Lumia 1020 in India on Thursday and will make the handset available for sale in stores all across the country starting October 11.
Prices are yet to be revealed though, but it won’t be too far-fetched to assume that the smartphone will retail just under ?50,000 – ?48,000 to be precise, for the fact that it is being sold at $800 on an average in other parts of the world. The Lumia 1020 features a second generation 41-megapixel sensor with optical image stabilization.
Vipul Mehrotra, Director – Smartphone devices for Nokia India, Middle East and Africa region, has confirmed the news and saying that, “Consumers are increasingly demanding a high quality smartphone camera that they can rely on to capture and share their lives. The Nokia Lumia 1020 is the first smartphone which also exceeds many standalone digital cameras for quality.”
Lumia 1020 is equipped with Nokia Pro Camera, a new application combined with the leading hardware technology, which makes it easy for the users to take high quality near-professional pictures. The zooming capability of the device enables users to check out the picture details either before taking a picture or even after taking a shot, the company said.
The dual capture feature of the handset allows users to take a high resolution 38-megapixel image simultaneously for endless and better editing opportunities.
Nokia India, Managing Director, P Balaji said “The response to the Nokia Lumia range in India has been extremely encouraging”.
“The 1020 is a stunning device with imaging capabilities like no other smartphone. We believe it will further strengthen Nokia’s leadership in imaging, which today plays a pivotal role in the lives of consumers”, he added.
