Nokia on Wednesday unveiled its new flagship phone Lumia 930 along with Lumia 630 and Lumia 635 at the BUILD conference 2014.
Speaking at the Microsoft’s Build developer conference in San Francisco on Wednesday, Microsoft’s Stephen Elop said “The 930 is just a beautifully crafted device.”
The new Lumia 930, claimed to be Lumia Icon’s international version, will run on Windows Phone 8.1 and feature a 2.2 GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM with 32GB of internal storage. The Lumia 930 has a 5-inch, 1,080p display built on an aluminum frame with a polycarbonate back.
The smartphone packs a 20-megapixel PureView camera with optical image stabilisation and Zeiss optics, an HD 1.2-megapixel wide-angle camera affixed to the front and four high-performance digital microphones, allowing for directional recording. Elop also said it’s capable of “non-destructive editing capabilities.”
“We have built the Lumia 930 for absolute speed and performance,” said Elop.
Elop also showed off two new low cost Lumia handsets – the Lumia 630 and Lumia 635. The budget Lumia devices are equipped with a 4.5-inch FWVGA display of 480 × 854p resolution with pixel density of 221ppi. Both Lumia 630 and 635 will be powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor coupled with 512MB of RAM.
The new lower cost Lumia smartphones will come with 8GB onboard memory and expandable memory of up to voluminous 128GB. The devices sport only a rear 5-megapixel camera with no front-facing camera as rumoured earlier.
The only distinguishing factor between the two smartphones is that the 630 is a 3G-only phone and will be available in both single and dual SIM variants, while the 635 supports faster LTE wireless-data networks and is available only as a single-SIM variant.
The Lumia 930 will hit market shelves in June, beginning in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and India. The high end Lumia phone will retail for £360 (about $599, AU$648) and will be available in orange, green, black and white.
The Lumia 630 will come with a price tag of $159 for a single-SIM model and $169 for a dual-SIM model, the Lumia 635 will be available for $189. The mid-range devices will be rolled out next month.
