Keeping track of your lost keys, wallets, bags and other physical valuables is now easy thanks to Nokia’s new accessory – Treasure Tag, which was announced by the Finnish giant today.
The Treasure tag gadget is targeted at people who usually tend to forget things at some or the other place. The Tag pairs with a Lumia Windows Phone and uses an NFC or Bluetooth connection to locate what it’s attached to. The Lumia will alert the user if it is separated from the Treasure Tag.
The companion app installed on Windows Phone will show the device’s last known location using HERE Map to help locate it.
Every Lumia handset can be linked to a maximum of four different Treasure Tags. Each tag can be allocated its own Live Tile, which shows a picture of the protected product on the device’s start screen, and can be deactivated when not needed. This will allow user to see updates as to the last time that a particular Tag was spotted.
According to Nokia, the Treasure Tags will come with a battery life of up to six months and use a replaceable coin cell battery (CR-2032) for power.
The Treasure tag accessory, which measures 30 x 30 x 10mm, will be made available in a choice of four colors including cyan, yellow, white and black. The tags will go on sale worldwide in April with a price tag of €24,90 ($29.90).
The tag will work with all smartphones that have Lumia Black update installed. However, Nokia has promised to roll out third-party apps for compatibility with Android and iOS devices soon.
