A new beta version of BlackBerry Messenger for Android has been released with features such as voice calling and Channel.
BlackBerry announced in December 2013 that it will be adding quite a few new features to BBM for Android and iPhone including Channels, Voice Calling, faster file sharing, and a ton of new emoticons in 2014.
It seems that BBM team is making progress as a new beta version of BBM for Android has been released in the beta channel that brings with it several new features. The new beta version brings with it all the features that were promised during the December announcement.

Voice calling using BBM means that users will now be able to call their friends and family directly from the app without consuming talk time or balance. The Channels feature means that user to chat, share and follow specific topics.
Those who have access to the beta channel will be able to grab their BBM for Android copy and test out the new features. If you have access to the beta channel, do let us know about the experience and if possible share a few screenshots as well.

Can’t wait for channels actually. Been using it on my wife’s phone and prefer it to twitter for direct conversations on a subject. For instance, to have a community of Miami heat fans together discussing the game in real time, is pretty neat. Twitter is just overwhelming and can lead you to distraction.
Also hear the BBM allows you to send APK files. That’s pretty neat.
