Motorola announced it has rolled out Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update for its popular Moto 360 smartwatch as promised earlier.
The Lollipop update dubbed ‘Coral’ adds a bunch of new features to the Moto 360 smartwatch including a change in the user interface, new watch faces and new settings to preserve the battery.
As part of the update, users can now choose from a range of public watch faces available through the Google Play Store. They can select the watch faces and get it configured through the Android Wear app either on their phone or directly on their Moto 360.
Included in the new settings panel are Theatre Mode, Sunlight Mode (for quick max brightness), an interruption manager and easy access to the full settings.
The Theater mode is useful for preserving the battery in the smartwatch; it keeps the screen off unless turned on by a side button press. This function is quite similar to lock/unlock on smartphones.
A new undo feature for card dismissals has been added which allow users to retrieve a card shortly after it is swiped.
Other new features include a breakdown of battery consumption by apps and time left before the device needs a charge. There is also an option to see how much storage space is left to store music for offline listening.
The update rollout which began on December 10 is currently available to all Moto 360 smartwatch users.
