In an attempt to lure gamers Microsoft has just announced a price cut for its Xbox One gaming console making the console cheaper than rival Sony’s popular Playstation 4 (PS4) for the first time in the UK.
The Kinect free Xbox One version is now available on the official Microsoft UK Store for £330, some £20 cheaper than the console’s previous £349.99 price. The cheaper Xbox One ships with a controller and headset, but no additional games or Kinect.
Microsoft has officially confirmed the UK Xbox One price cut in a statement which read “We are always looking at ways to offer the best value for our customers.”
“This is a UK only retail promotion which coincides with our upcoming releases including Forza Horizon 2, Sunset Overdrive and Halo: The Master Chief Collection.”
The Xbox One was released in UK with an initial launch price of £429.99 on 22nd November 2013, the price was dropped to £399.99 for the release of Titanfall in March. Finally, a Kinect less Xbox One version was released for £349.99 in June.
The latest price cut makes Xbox One even cheaper than rival Sony’s Playstation 4 which is currently available for £349.99 over at Sony’s online shop.
Despite a number of price cuts, Microsoft’s gaming console has not yet been successful in overpowering the success of the PlayStation 4 which has become the second-fastest selling console ever in the UK, reaching one million sales after 42 weeks, and surpassed ten million sales worldwide.
