Adding salt to previous rumours about Microsoft’s next major operating system, Myce has leaked a couple of screenshots of the alleged Windows 9 or Threshold that reveals certain features of the OS.
The screenshot leaked shows a Start Menu which was expected with the Windows 8.1 updates but Microsoft has reportedly chose to save it for Threshold. Earlier this year there was a screenshot of the new OS which reveals similar features.
The OS is named Windows 8.1 Pro but it is widely believed that it is a makeshift name and its actual release name will be Threshold. The apps are Metro-style and are pinned to the Start Menu which can expand to fill the whole screen like it does in Windows 8.
The fully windowed apps works similar to normal windows but miss the resize button. If the images are genuine, it might feel like using Windows 7 with a touch-friendly UI.
Another feature that is expected to enter Windows’ next major OS is the virtual voice assistant Cortana. However, there is no sign of Cortana on the leaked images and it remains to be seen whether Microsoft will bring Cortana to the big screen experience.
Latest rumours have it that the company will roll out Windows 8.1 Update 2 on 12th August and focus more on Threshold since then.
