Microsoft’s newest OS for desktops dubbed ‘Windows 10’ could hit market shelves by as early as by autumn 2015.
According to reports, Kevin Turner, chief operating officer, Microsoft, told Japanese news service Nikkei that the new system would be released “early next fall.”
“By next late summer and early fall we’ll be able to bring out this particular OS (operating system). That’s the current plan of record,” Turner revealed at the Credit Suisse Technology Conference last Thursday.
It isn’t for the first time that Redmond will be releasing its flagship desktop operating system at that time of the year. Windows 8 too was launched during the same time in 2012.

‘Early autumn’ hints at September being the month for the release.
Initially unveiled in September, Microsoft’s newest OS ‘Windows 10’ features return of the start menu, a revamped UI, enhanced security, and digital assistant Cortana. A technical preview version of the latest Windows OS iteration has been available for download from Microsoft’s website for more than two months which highlights several of Windows 10’s new features.
Microsoft is also expected to take the wraps off its Windows 10 Consumer Preview at an event to be held in January next year. The exact date of the January event is yet to be announced.
According to tech research firm Gartner, Microsoft Windows is still the desktop computing market leader with over 1.5 billion users.
