Microsoft has rolled out Windows 10 Mobile build 10166 for fast ring users in the Insider program, right ahead of the OS’s July 29 final release.
The latest build 101066 is mainly focused on bug fixes and refinements to the platform, or “fit and finish” as Microsoft labels it and there isn’t any new feature included.
“There are lots of small changes and feature tweaks in this build,” wrote Gabe Aul, head of the Windows Insider program in a blog post, “but our major focus over the past few builds on mobile has been about improvements to core quality.”
With the latest update, Microsoft has fixed the post-upgrade migration status screen bug which caused the lock screen to freeze. The bug which disabled users from unlocking their phone has also been fixed. The colors in apps now appear correctly. This includes the title bar in the Outlook Mail app, which was previously (and incorrectly) orange.
Microsoft says it has improved the reliability of app downloads and updates from the Store app, which loses the “Beta” tag in this release. Also, the old Store app is no longer in the build. In addition, the battery icon has been made bigger based on feedback from users of earlier builds who had complained about its small size.
Windows 10 Mobile build 10166 can be downloaded by everyone in the Fast ring. For those who don’t know how to download Build 10166, will need to sign up as a Windows Insider and install the Windows Insider app to get the latest build.
