Microsoft, in an attempt to lure people to use its OneDrive cloud storage service, is now offering more than double the free storage space on OneDrive raising the free storage space to 15GB, up from 7GB.
“Our data tells us that [three] out of [four] people have less than 15GB of files stored on their PC,” Microsoft said in a blog post.
“Factoring in what they may also have stored on other devices, we believe providing 15GB for free right out of the gate – with no hoops to jump through – will make it much easier for people to have their documents, videos, and photos available in one place.”
In addition, the company also announced it is raising the storage limits that comes with various other Office 365 subscriptions as well. All Office 365 versions will now offer 1TB of OneDrive space, up from 20GB.
This means that Office 365 Home users, who pay £7.99 per month will get 1 TB per person for up to five people as well as Office 365 Personal subscribers will also get 1TB of storage for £5.99 a month.
The software giant also further announced it has reduced OneDrive monthly storage subscription fees. While 100GB of OneDrive storage will now cost £1.99 per month, 200GB will cost £3.99, less than half the present cost.
Microsoft noted that the change in prices will take effect “in the next month.”
