Microsoft has updated its Office presentation app Sway with Bing Image Search integration to make it easier for users to find photos.
In addition to let users search for images and add them to their Sways without leaving the app, Sways’ integration with Bing will also offer users image suggestions based on the content of their presentation.
Built on Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform, Sway allows users to create interactive and easy web shareable projects either through a normal web browser like Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Internet Explorer or through any desktop or smartphone app.
It enables users to make presentations by dragging and dropping photos, videos, and other files from OneDrive, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and other built-in cloud-connected sources. The presentations are stored on the web, so users can access them from anywhere and at any time.
“In response to requests from users (particularly in the education space) about wanting to be able to search for Creative Commons licensed images directly from the Internet, we’ve integrated Bing Image Search functionality into Sway,” announced Microsoft’s Sway group in a Office Blog post.
“Now you can search for images tagged with Creative Commons licenses within Sway.”
In order to use the feature, users will need to click the source dropdown, select Bing, type their query into the search bar, and hit Enter. The Bing Image Search result will include a URL to the source of each image, which allows the user to navigate to the original image and review the license terms to make sure use of the image is permitted.
“You are responsible for respecting others’ rights, including copyright,” the Sway team noted.
