Microsoft has started a staged rollout of its firmware fix for Surface Pro 2 tablets, reports from users in the UK and US claim.
Users have taken to Twitter and some online forums including this one to report of a possible update dated January 18, 2014 hitting their Surface Pro 2 tablets. The first user to report the availability of an update was one from UK.
The update is listed under ‘Windows 8.1 Drivers’ and named System Firmware Update with a 4.2MB size. Uses in Mississippi and Boston, US have also reported of a firmware update hitting their tablets. Some users have reported that they received the update on January 17 during the evening, while others have reported of having received the update on January 18.
According to ZDNet’s Mary Jo Foley there is no KB number attached to the update. There is no confirmation from Microsoft as yet on what all bugs does the firmware update address and when will it be rolled out to all Surface Pro 2 users.
Monday 20th Jan, lunchtime, UK.
Still haven’t received the firmware update.
My Surface Pro 2 is bricked, as I’m one of the users affected by the “plugged in, not charging” issue.
MS Support in the UK are not able to confirm for sure whether the firmware update, which was promised last week and still hasn’t hit my machine, will even solve the problems I am having.
The word “omnishambles” comes to mind.
I want my money back.
