Microsoft Office 2016 for Mac has been around for over a month now, but it hasn’t revealed as to when will the PC version of its productivity suite be released.
Before we get an official announcement from Microsoft, a document leak has suggested that Office 2016 for Windows will be releasing on September 22. According to an internal memo obtained by WinFuture.de, Microsoft has asked its employees to start using the public preview of Office 2016 and keep track of readiness, training and marketing material related to the product prior to the release on the 22nd of September.
The latest version of Office for Windows will pack updated versions of all productivity apps including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Skype for Business, Project, Visio, Access, and Publisher. Though there is no official information from Microsoft, previous reports have suggested that Office 2016 basic Home and Student version could retail somewhere around the $150 mark. Office 2016 Office Home and Business is expected to retail at $280.
Office 2016 isn’t expected to bring over the top change that will revolutionise the productivity apps world, but the upgrades and changes are all part of an evolutionary change that is expected out of any new version of a software.
Owing to Satya Nadella’s vision of taking strides in the direction of the cloud, we expect Office 2016 to be highly cloud-centric allowing for greater collaboration between teams working on the same project.
