Microsoft is all set to reveal a new 500GB hard drive for Xbox 360 with a price tag of just $110, to be available for pre-order starting this month in UK.
Out of the box, Xbox 360 console offers anywhere between 4GB to 250GB storage depending on the bundle you opt for. At a cheaper rate compared to the existing upgrade options, the new hard drive is likely said to replace the former 320GB model.
The upgraded 500GB Xbox 360 hard drive, currently listed as “pre-order coming soon” on the Xbox website, will be compatible only with the newer Xbox 360 S and Xbox 360 E models.
A Microsoft representative has confirmed that the new 500GB media hard drive will be available for the Xbox 360 owners “starting this month” and that the 320GB media hard drive will be available only “while supplies last.”
The company noted that the new hard drive will be offered as an option for Xbox 360 owners looking to upgrade their external storage. Microsoft is also working with retailers to revise pricing on the current 320GB media hard drive also in an effort to maintain market competitiveness.
With this new hard drive, the official storage support for Xbox 360 will be on par with the latest Xbox One which ships with a 500 GB internal drive and support for external storage. However, the support is to bump to 1TB with Xbox One Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare bundle to be released this November this year.
