Microsoft has reduced by pricing of its original Surface Pro tablet by another $100, bringing the price of 64GB model down to just $699 as compared to the $899 launch price of Surface Pro 2.
Just a couple of months back, Microsoft had reduced Surface Pro’s pricing by $100 along with a reduction in prices of Surface RT. The price reduction for Surface Pro are only visible in Microsoft Stores in US and Canada. Other locations are still offering the tablet at the August pricing.
Further it seems that the offer is just temporary and valid till December 31. This is something that we assume is again one of those ‘temporary’ offers which were made permanent in a few days’ time. Microsoft has already removed the original Surface Pro listing from its main website and it only lists the recently launched Surface 2, Surface Pro 2 and Surface (originally Surface RT).
Microsoft didn’t say anything about the Surface Pro in its September launch and we believe that the company is not planning to continue selling the tablet once the inventory diminishes. The original Surface may stick around as it still shows up everywhere – on the main website, on Microsoft Store across the globe and other marketing material.
The $699 pricing is definitely a bargain considering that the tablet is just 9 months old and can be considered a good enough mobile replacement for a laptop.
