Microsoft has integrated Skype chat feature into its Office Word Online and Office PowerPoint Online services enabling users to chat with their colleagues all the while editing their documents.
Users will don’t need to open up a separate app or a new browser window as the Skype chat window will now appear alongside the document they are working on.
Until now, users had to opt for emails or other third party applications to discuss writing or editing work on MS documents with others group members. But from now onwards, they will be able to interact with their co-workers working on the same document from within either of the services.
In order to use the new feature, users will be required to link their Microsoft and Skype accounts. Those working on the same document will find a group chat option alongside the document using which they can interact with one another and edit the same simultaneously. In addition, they will also be able to continue any chats started in Office Online on Skype on the desktop or smartphone even after closing the document.
Microsoft is yet to announce as when it will roll out the new feature to Excel or OneNote Online.
