New reports claims that Microsoft and Google aren’t playing along as far as dual-OS PCs are concerned and are pressurising Asus to shelve its dual-OS PCs.
According to The Wall Street Journal Asus has already postponed plans to sell its laptop tablet convertible dubbed Transformer Book Duet TD300 that runs both Android and Windows.
When Asus announced its Transformer Book Duet TD300, it said that uses will be able to switch between Android and Windows with just a single push of an Instant Switch button on the laptop or the virtual key on the tablet.
Microsoft has updated its policy wherein it has specifically denied supporting systems with dual-OS capabilities. Citing this policy an internal Asus memo, obtained by The Wall Street Journal, notes that the Taiwanese PC maker will stop selling dual-OS Transformer AiO P1801 and P1802 all-in-one PCs it launched last year.
If Microsoft, Google are actually not playing along when it comes to dual-OS tablets and laptops and this stance will not only hurt vendors trying to develop dual-OS products, but will also hurt Intel as it also joined the dual-OS product bandwagon last year by stating that it will be powering devices that run both Windows and Android.
