It seems Microsoft is in a mood to make this happy holiday season even happier for music lovers as the company has announced it is offering 100 MP3 albums for free through its Music Deals app.
The great music deal will be eligible for everyone who uses Windows 8.1 computer or Windows Phone device. Among the free albums available for download some are from leading artists such as Eminem, The Rolling Stones, Linkin Park, Mumford & Sons, Lana Del Ray, U2, Stone Temple Pilots, Faith Hill, The Who, Bon Jovi, The Doobie Brothers, Katy Perry, and many more.
In order to get the deal, the user will need to install Microsoft’s Music Deals app first and then enter the “Holiday Freebies” section of app, select the album and click “Get it free” on the following page. This will then require the user to confirm opening the Music app, so click “Yes.” A simple click on the “Get it free” link below the selected album on the next page should finally initiate the download.
In addition to giving away 100 free albums, Microsoft is also offering 50 “box sets” for $1.99 at a whopping 80 percent off or more, allowing users to download a ton of top-tier music collections, including Nirvana’s “With the Lights Out,” John Lennon’s “Signature Box,” Frank Sinatra’s “The Complete Capitol Singles,” complete studio album sets from The Doors, The Grateful Dead, ZZ Top, and Led Zeppelin, and a whole lot more. The box sets usually sell starting for $15 to $100.
“Remember, albums you download as part of our Music Deals are all MP3s. You can download these albums, keep them, and play them on whatever device you have,” Microsoft noted in a blog post.
According to Microsoft’s announcement, the deal is only available in the US from Nov. 25 till Dec. 3.
