Microsoft has started offering PS3-tradeins and under the scheme users who bring their old PS3 system to a Microsoft Store will be provided with $100 store credit towards a brand new Xbox One.
Users started receiving the email today and it was first sighted on NeoGAF forums. The offer reads “Ditch your PS3 and get $100 store credit towards Xbox One”. $100 is definitely not a great amount for a PS3, which is known to have a huge library of games and has been Sony’s most successful gaming console till date. Users aren’t impressed with the trade-in deal with some even claiming that they could get more than $100 if they went to Craigslist and sold it off there.
If seems that the offer is not limited to PS3 only and a message on Microsoft websites reads “For a limited time, bring in your PS3, Xbox 360 S or Xbox 360 E and receive $100 of Microsoft retail store credit.”
According to the small print the offer is valid from January 23 until March 2 or while supplies last. The offer is valid in select Microsoft Stores in the US, Puerto Rico and Canada. Users will not be able to avail this offer online.
It seems that Microsoft may be offering a maximum of $100 as trade-in value and chances are it might offer less to some customers. In the terms and conditions section one of the statements reads: “To receive maximum trade in value, you must purchase an Xbox One at the same time. Any appraised value will be determined at trade in and provided as store credit, subject to Microsoft’s discretion and approval.”
In related Xbox One news, it is rumoured that Microsoft will launch White version of Xbox One sometime in October this year.
