Microsoft has upped its ante to lure customers switch from their old Windows XP operating system to a new and upgraded one before the April 8 deadline and is now offering $100 off for those customers who are ready to exchange their older PCs running Windows XP for a new system.
“Now through June 15, XP users looking to upgrade their hardware can save $100 and get free data transfer at MicrosoftStore.com or by bringing their old XP devices to their local Microsoft retail store,” announced Microsoft.
There is a catch though as the money saving offer will be applicable only if a customer buys a new PC or Surface device priced at $599 or higher.
According to the offer page on Microsoft’s online site, the offer will run from March 20, 2014 until June 15, 2014, or “while supplies last.” The promotion is only offered through the software giant’s own retail and online stores in the US, Puerto Rico, and Canada.
In addition to the savings, users will also get 90 days of free support for their new Windows 8 devices. Laplink data-transfer service, which allows users to move their files, photos, music and settings to new PCs, will also be made available to the users free of charge as part of the package.
Last week, Microsoft also announced a $50 gift card to those purchasing a Windows 8.1 computer.
