More than 75 per cent of Brits feel they are more productive while working at their desk, new report claims.
According to a new research study conducted by Ricoh, 26 per cent of the 1,007 workers surveyed feel more productive when working from home, nine per cent of them feel they could be at their most productive when working at another office, while only 8 per cent feel more productive in transit, compared to the 75 per cent who feel most productive when at their desk.
Out of the 61 per cent of respondents who admitted working from home sometimes, 22 per cent said they would want to work from home but didn’t have the right technology to do so, while a further 44 per cent admitted that not having the right technology while working at home hampers their productivity.
Phil Keoghan, CEO at Ricoh UK, said although UK employees feel technology has vastly improved productivity in and out of the office, all thanks to a range of recent technological advances, with smartphones, cloud computing, tablets and, video conferencing, but there is still a lot of room for further improvement.
“With the recent drive towards a mobile workforce, it is surprising that so few people feel they are as productive when working at home or away from the office. It is particularly worrying that people feel less productive at other company offices, where it is very easy to replicate their working environment,” Keoghan added.
“This is not about spending a fortune on technology, it is largely about making simple policy changes to allow people easy access to company networks, providing people with laptops and tablets, and training them in how to use them.”
