Microsoft has released the high anticipated Live Lock Screen app for Windows Phone 8.1 in beta allowing users to choose from one of six different lock screen layouts to further customize their Windows Phone experience.
Each of the six layouts displays the lock screen in a unique way and displays time, date, and notification information in their own special way. Further each of the layouts has a unique way of unlocking as well.
Once you have installed the app, you get to select one of the six lock screen layouts following which you are a given the option of either selecting Bing Images or manual selection from your on-device photos.
In case you select manual background, you are also presented with the option of setting how frequently you want to change the background – every hour, every 4 hours, every 12 hours, daily or never.
The Live Lock Screen app is currently only available to Windows Phone 8.1 devices with 1GB RAM or higher. Joe Belfiore of Microsoft already confirmed this earlier stating that they wanted to make the lockscreen app and stay in memory. This means that Lumia 520 users will not be able to install the app anytime soon.
I am using a Lumia 925 and noticed that there is a little lag while unlocking the device. This may be because the app is still in beta, but do let us know your experiences with the Live Lock Screen app.
You can download the app from Windows Phone Store here.
