Instead of releasing the final version of Linux 3.14, Linus Torvalds has released Linux 3.14-rc8 this week.
“I delayed things a day from my normal schedule, hoping I’d feel more comfortable doing a 3.14 release, but that was not to be”, wrote Torvalds in the mailing list announcement. “So here’s an rc8, and I expect to do the final 3.14 release next weekend.”
Noting that there wasn’t a lot of ‘scary stuff’, Torvalds revealed that there are still a few pending fixes for vfs. Torvalds further notes that last week also saw ‘some interesting’ core fixes as well as networking and MIPS fixes.
Linux 3.14 is expected next week and this will push back the Linux 3.15 pull requests by another week.
