Lenovo has announced the first even convertible Chromebook – the Thinkpad Yoga 11e Chromebook that runs on Google’s Chrome OS.
Lenovo is targeting the education sector with its Yoga 11e Chromebook and has claimed that the convertible is one of the most durable available in the market today. The Yoga 11e features rubber bumpers, reinforced ports and stronger hinges than the average Chromebook claims Lenovo.
To cater to the education needs, the Chromebook comes preloaded with custom software including Intel’s Education suite and customers can also opt for optional Lanschool and Webnetwork applications.
Lenovo hasn’t detailed the full specification of the Yoga 11e, but has said that it features an 11.6-inch IPS touchscreen display with a big enough battery that can provide up to 8 hours of juice. The Yoga 11e comes with LED indicators for wireless connectivity, laptop power or sleep mode. This will enable teachers to “ensure consistent student activity”.
Alongside the Chromebook, Lenovo has also launched a non-convertible variant Thinkpad 11e and two Windows 8.1 powered Thinkpads.
There is no word on the availability of the Chromebook in UK, but Lenovo has said that the convertible Thinkpad Yoga 11e will be available in the US in both black and silver colour options for $449. The non-convertible variant will be priced at $349. Customers can also opt for optional laser engraving, custom imaging and BIOS modifications.
