Rockstar is yet to officially announce the presence of a PC version of GTA V and its release dates, but new leaked build longs indicate that the company has long been working on a PC port and the announcement could come sooner than later.
PC Gamer analysed the build logs and notes that there are over 170 references to bugs that have come up during development of the PC version of GTA V.
References to PC only issues can be seen as early as April 2013 and includes things such as ‘smog’, ‘lastgen’ toggle, bugs in 64-bit testing, DirectX 11 support, among others.
The authenticity of the build logs can be guaranteed for the fact that “there are annotations from Rockstar developers like programmer Robert Schmitz and senior level designer Kenneth Ross, and references to proprietary Rockstar management systems”, notes PC Gamer.
The leak came about in the form of an XML file and has been around since September 23, but was only made public a few days back.
The latest leak just adds another link to the chain of hints that suggest that the GTA V maker is working hard to bring the game to PC. References to GTA V were found in AMD’s latest catalyst drivers last year in October last year and a Brazilian retailer has already pegged the launch of GTA V for PC as March this year.
I’ve almost read through the whole thing, and the PC is referenced as early as around mid-2012.
