Aston Martin formally announced its ‘Lagonda Taraf’ in Dubai earlier this week and if we are interpret a statement from company’s new CEO Andy Palmer, chances are that Lagonda could make it to the UK.
Lagonda Taraf is currently only a Middle East exclusive, but Palmer talked about company’s plans on rethinking of their sales strategy because of increased interest in the Lagonda internationally. Taraf, an Arabic word, broadly translates to success.
“It is clear from the initial reaction to the car that interest from around the world is extremely high and I can confirm today that we are also evaluating the opportunity to offer this Lagonda in other markets,” he said.
Lagonda Taraf is based Aston’s VH architecture, which underpins all current Aston Martin products hand-built in Gaydon at a dedicated factory that was previously used to build the One-77.
We don’t have information on the powertrain, but the car may pack Aston’s 565bhp 6.0-litre V12 up front and the new eight-speed ZF box driving the rear wheels, which is used by the company in its new Rapide and Vanquish. If that’s the case, it is safe to assume that the car will do 0-62mph in just under 4 seconds with a top speed of somewhere around 200mph.
One of the primary reasons Aston Martin launched the Lagonda Taraf in Middle East is that there are many takes for the Lagonda in the region and releasing a new model there first was a no-brainer according to Palmer.
“I’m sure those who take the opportunity to purchase the new Lagonda will be proud to own what will doubtless go on to become a piece of luxury automotive history”, he said.
