Android-One powered handset Sparkle V has finally made its way to the UK. Manufactured by India-based Karbonn Mobile, Sparkle V is the first of the four Google’s Android-One powered handsets to be launched in the UK via London-based mobile manufacturer and distributor Santok.
The Sparkle V is currently available as an unlocked device over on Amazon UK for £129.99, with free delivery option, while what’s better is that the price of the smartphone will drop to just £99.99 as a part of Amazon’s Black Friday deals.
The handset will face stiff competition from other budget-friendly smartphones that costs somewhere in the same price region including the Moto G, HTC Desire 510, EE Kestrel and Microsoft’s Lumia 635.
The Sparkle V features a 4.5in capacitive touchscreen with In-Plane-Switching(IPS) technology and a 480 x 854 resolution, a MediaTek MT6582 Quad-Core processor that is clocked at 1.3GHz, 1GB RAM and 4GB internal storage which is expandable up to 32GB via an external MicroSD card.
There’s a 5-mgegapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front camera on board. Connectivity options offered are 3G, Bluetooth and microUSB. A 1700mAh battery powers the handset. The smartphone also supports dual SIM-cards and is available in Magnum Blue, Mild Grey, Wild Red and Pearl White color variants.
On the software front, the Sparkle V currently runs on Android 4.4.4, but it is expected to get Android 5.0 Lollipop update which has been scheduled for a January release. The handset is said to receive future software updates directly from Google.
